A Unique Hardwood

Bamboo flooring possess unique qualities and features that differ from other hardwoods, providing a truly different option in the hardwood flooring industry.

Like other types of hardwood flooring, bamboo comes in a variety of colors from dark espresso, to light purple, gray, brown, caramel, cherry and natural blond.

Flooring made of bamboo can easily be incorporate into any design, style or theme you have in mind.

Unique Features

Resistance & Durability

Typically, hardwoods are not recommended for bath or kitchen flooring or any area that is constantly exposed to lots of water, food, etc.

However, bamboo is naturally resistant to moisture, so it will hold up very well in kitchens and bathrooms. Not as well as ceramic or stone of course, but if you must have hardwood for your bath or kitchen flooring, then bamboo is your best bet.

Also, the durability and hardness of bamboo floors make them more resistant to scratching and denting than other hardwoods.

And if you choose to you can decorate with area rugs to farther compliment your bamboo flooring.

Grain Patterns

As with any hardwood floor, bamboo has a very distinctive grain pattern.

But unlike other hardwoods, with bamboo you will have a choice of two grain patterns.

Most bamboos are laminated. That is... bamboo is cut and dried into thin sheets then glued together into panels. This process allows for orienting and displaying the grain into two different looks: vertical or horizontal laminate flooring.

The vertical style shows a fine grain line better suited for halls and smaller rooms.

The horizontal grain is much wider for a less busy look in more open spaces.

Of course, you may prefer one grain type over the other and either will look good in any room, so feel free to use it as you like.

Installation

The procedure for installing floors of bamboo is much the same as installing any hardwood flooring. The differences: the floor surface will need to be exceptionally dry and the bamboo will need to acclimated to the room temperature prior to installation.

Using bamboo for flooring offers an environmentally friendly alternative to all other hardwoods, however manufacturing methods present concerns you should be aware of too.
