garage flooring Tired of looking at a gray, no doubt stained, slab of concrete?

You too can have a showroom for a garage!

We are here to provide information on how you can change that look to one you will want to show off.....

There are many possibilities available. Most are easily obtained in a short period of time. Some are more challenging, labor intensive and time consuming but make a good project for the do-it-yourselfer.

Costs vary depending on how elaborate or simple one wants to be, and the size of the area to be covered. The average garage size is 400 sq/ft, that said.... lets take a look at the most popular options...

Floor Painting

A practical, inexpensive way to spruce up a garage is with garage floor paint! You can do this yourself, or have a painting party, and the paint will last many years before it will need refreshing...

Painted garage floors take very little maintenance to keep clean! However it is not for all concrete floors, and some paints are definitely harmful to our environment..

NOTE: some kinds of paints have solvents that are potentially hazardous and require you wear protective gear when using them. Be sure you read and follow all the instructions on the can's label before you begin painting...

Preparing the floor for the paint is very labor intensive, tedious and can be very time consuming, depending on the type of paint you want to apply.

Many great colors are available to choose from and there are additives you can put into the paint to make the floor less slippery.

Concrete flooring that is properly painted is very durable, will last many years and offers protection against most elements that cause deterioration to the floor.

Floor Mats

Floor mats will certainly give a garage a well-groomed look. Built to last many years, they guard against most anything that will cause deterioration to your floor.

More expensive than painting, but much less tedious to acquire....

Compared to tiles, liners or painting, mats are the easiest to install and cleaning is a real breeze. Simply move them outside!

Available in commercial or industrial grades, there are several different materials, colors, thickness, patterns and sizes to choose from.

Floor Tiles

Putting tile on the floor of your garage will not only give you a terrific looking garage floor, it will also create a comfortable work space where you enjoy spending time!

A variety of materials, colors, thickness, patterns and styles are available. You'll be surprised with all the choices available to you, there is something for every need and budget.

Today the two most popular tiles used for garage flooring are vinyl and rubber. Both are practical and relatively inexpensive to buy, easy to install and clean and require very little maintenance.

Rubber flooring tile may have the perfect composition for combating against the errosive elements usually linked with a garage environment.

Vinyl tile used for flooring in a garage is not like the vinyl flooring you would typically put in your home. Yes, they are both made of vinyl, but there the similarities stop.

Another feature about either of these tiles is they can easily be replaced, cheaply, and only where needed not the whole floor!

Tiles are very durable and will last many years. They add warmth and style to a garage. Some types are great noise buffers, insullators and cushions on your floor where you had none!

Most tiles are inter-locking, easy to clean and cover concrete nicely. Some require adhesive to install, but offer similar benefits as the inter-locking styles.

Floor tiles are either 1 X 1 or 2 X 2 foot squares. You can buy a "kit" which includes a design/pattern, or you could design your own.... I have seen some terrific looking garage floors that didn't look like a garage at all!

Installation is a great week-end project for the (DIY) do-it-yourselfer!

Garage Floor Liners

Liners can be rolled, sprayed or brushed-on for a perfect, custom made "look" floor covering in your garage!

Although more expensive to install than most other garage floor coverings, the added expense may be well worth it for a guarantee of the flooring and the pleasure of a having a "showroom" look in your garage...

Many colors and combination's are available to coordinate with, and enhance the rest of your home or business.

Resistant to chemicals, abrasions, stains and impacts, liners are environmentally friendly, will not fade and need only soap and water to clean.

We hope these highlights will help you choose the floor cover that fits your needs and will change the look inside your garage. I have seen some pretty fancy looking garages and it didn't take much to make them look that way...

Good Luck and Have Fun!!
